The only way a project like this will work is if people are willing to tell their stories and share a little of their lives with us. Every once in a while, we get to interact with someone who so selflessly gives of themselves and helps us on more than one level. Such is the case with Dawn Schatz. In a way, it's not surprising though, Dawn is in the business of helping people.
Dawn is a licensed clinical social worker and therapist. She owns the wellness center on Main Street in Middletown, Delaware called Wellbeing on Main. The center is in a renovated 1800's building and is home to Dawn's practice -- Appoquinimink Counseling Services, LLC -- as well as several other therapists and a masseuse. In addition to her practice and the center, Dawn writes a column on wellness for the Middletown Transcript.
Not only did Dawn agree to be interviewed for the documentary, she was our first Middletown, Delaware host for the Middletown Mascots project.
Danielle and I had a great time interviewing Dawn in the meeting room of the wellness center. I learned some great things about her life in Middletown, the renovation of the building and its history, and her community involvement. Plus, Dawn clued me in on some potential other Middletowners to interview.
We are so grateful to folks like Dawn who trust us with their stories and are helping us with this project.
